Local Student Nominated for National Exemplary Student Service Award

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 28, 2017) – The National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) is thrilled to announce the student finalists for the Exemplary Student Service Award!

This award was created to honor a student who has served their school, community, city, and state through the skills they honed through speech and debate. From more than 140-thousand student members of the NSDA, the following students were selected as finalists for this award.

Kylie Almeida - Widefield High School, Colorado
Victoria Bevard - Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology, Virginia
Chloe Dennison - Asheville High School, North Carolina
Henry Lininger - South Eugene High School, Oregon
Andres Mata - Salina South High School, Kansas
Delanya Storey - Jefferson County IB School, Alabama

 “Speech and debate changes lives,” said NSDA Executive Director J. Scott Wunn. “These students use their speech and debate skills to impact others and better their community. We’re extremely proud of their hard work, dedication, and passion to speech and debate.”

The finalists were nominated for the Exemplary Student Service Award by educators, coaches and administrators across the country.
